Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) has announced the appointment of Martin Roolvink as the new Managing Director of BSM (Deutschland) GmbH & Co. KG (BSMD) in Germany, effective 1 October 2026. He will take on the role in addition to his current position as Managing Director of Pronav Ship Management (Pronav).
In Germany, BSM and Pronav currently operate under the same roof as two Ship Management Centres owned by the Schulte Group. BSMD manages a diverse fleet of Container Vessels, Bulk Carriers, Tankers, Offshore Vessels and LNG Bunker Vessels. Pronav manages large LNG Carriers and Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRUs).
Martin Roolvink has led Pronav since early 2019. During his tenure, he has guided the company through an important phase of development and closer alignment with BSM following the acquisition of Pronav by the Schulte Group in 2018. With almost twenty years of experience in ship management, he brings a strong combination of commercial, technical and strategic industry expertise.
“Martin’s appointment marks an important step for BSM in Germany and reflects our commitment to further strengthen our ship management capabilities in this market. His extensive operational experience in a demanding vessel segment, combined with his proven leadership at Pronav, makes him well placed to lead BSM Germany and support its continued development,” said Sebastian von Hardenberg, CEO of Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement.
“As Nick Topham steps down from the role as Managing Director in Germany, we would like to thank him for his leadership and contribution over the past eight years and wish him every success for the future,” he added.
The acquisition of Pronav in 2018 formed part of BSM's strategy to further diversify and expand its managed fleet through additional specialised LNG ship management capabilities. Today, BSM manages a global fleet of more than 700 vessels across all major commercial shipping sectors, including container ships, bulk carriers, tankers, offshore units and gas carriers. Within this fleet, BSM’s gas carrier portfolio includes more than 50 large LNG carriers, almost 30 LNG dual-fuel ships and five LNG Bunker Vessels.
Under Martin Roolvink's leadership, BSMD and Pronav will expand their collaboration and move towards closer organisational alignment. Customers will continue to be supported by their existing contacts, with current projects and service arrangements remaining in place.
