Carbon Compliance Management
With effect from 1 January 2024, the EU's Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) is extended to the shipping industry. BSM has developed a comprehensive service package to help owners and operators comply with EU legislation. Our offering is designed to help our customers manage the complex legal requirements while reducing their environmental footprint and the associated costs. Our services range from standard obligations for emissions reporting to complete EU ETS management on behalf of the owner.
We collect, correct and manage the reporting and verification of emission data.
We turn the collected data into emission statements through our authorized third-party verifier DNV who validates the data monthly via our integrated software solution. In addition, we can facilitate the annual verification.
We calculate and translate the emission statements into the equivalent value of EU Allowances (EUA).
As far as this is possible under the still unknown EU registry rules, we assist our customers in opening, operating and maintaining their EU registry trading / compliance accounts.
We offer EUA trading services at competitive prices in partnership with selected banks and trading houses.

BSM’s EU ETS team works hand in hand with our Fleet Performance Centre (FPC). The FPC is our dedicated department to optimise vessel performance and drive decarbonisation. The FPC’s team of experts uses smart technologies to not only collect data but also to continuously track and analyse carbon emissions to identify patterns, trends and inefficiencies. This way, we can not only help be compliant but also develop data-driven decarbonisation strategies and take corrective actions to reduce emissions. In addition, we offer an intuitive interface for real-time oversight of the emission and compliance status via LiveFleet.
