This Updating Course on Basic Training - Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (BT-PSSR) covers the new competence and the required knowledge, understanding and proficiencies prescribed in Table A-VI/1-4, Section A-VI/1 of the STCW Convention, 1978, as amended, and pursuant to Resolution MSC.560 (108), adopted on 23 May 2024 by the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) of the International Maritime Organization.

This course is open to seafarers who are holders of a Certificate of Proficiency (COP) in Basic Training issued before 01 January 2026, and must be medically fit to fully engage in all aspects of the training.

Theoretical discourse/tabletop Exercises.

8 hours.
Written exams and practical assessments.
Course certificate upon successful completion leading to STCW certification under the Maritime Industry Authority ( MARINA).
