Course Description

This course is designed for all Officers and Ratings involved in handling and transportation of Solid Bulk Cargoes .The course will enhance awareness to always apply proper and safe procedures when carrying out the cargo operations on board a bulk carrier .

Course Content

Successful completion of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • Identify the risks associated with loading, carrying and discharging solid bulk cargoes;
  • Assess the acceptability of a consignment for safe shipment, especially Group A cargoes
  • Observation of safe working practices for personnel and ship safety during the loading , discharging , stowage and carriage of solid bulk cargoes.
  • Observation of ship and port security regulations related to the loading, carriage, and unloading of solid bulk cargoes.
  • Supervision of the operational processes of certain cargoes in accordance with the regulations of the IMSBC Code.
