Course Description

The course is designed for Masters, Engineer Officers and personnel with immediate responsibility for the care and use of fuel and systems onboard ships using methanol / Ethanol as fuel. This course aims to provide the delegates with knowledge and understanding of safety protocols and operational guidelines to ensure Safe handling of Methanol / Ethanol in the Engine room and the safe and efficient operation of Methanol / Ethanol fuelled engines, and specific safety protocols and operational guidelines to ensure safe Bunkering of Methanol / Ethanol. This also includes Simulator training of operation of Methanol / Ethanol fueled engine and Methanol bunkering operation.

Course Content

Successful completion of this course will enable participants to understand:

  • The physical and chemical properties of Methanol / Ethanol fuel.
  • The control and safety devices on Methanol / Ethanol fueled systems.
  • Safe Operation of Equipment in the Machinery Spaces Hazard control.
  • Methanol / Ethanol fuel systems onboard.
  • Methanol / Ethanol hazards and prevention.
  • Methanol / Ethanol Bunkering operation.
  • Pollution from Methanol / Ethanol release and Compliance with legislative requirements.
