Capt Norbert Aschmann was Deputy CEO of BSM between 2013-2014, prior to taking up the position of Chief Executive Officer from January 1st 2015. He has previously held senior management positions at Hanseatic Shipping and E.R. Schiffahrt. Prior to his 20 years’ experience ashore, he served at sea for almost a decade reaching the rank of Master on container vessels. In addition to being a Master Mariner, Capt Aschmann holds a Diploma in Maritime Economics.

David Furnival joined BSM Isle of Man in 1998 as Technical Manager. In 2005, he was promoted to Managing Director and in 2012 was appointed to the position of Chief Operating Officer at BSM. Prior to this, Mr. Furnival worked with C.F. Ahrenkiel, Cyprus for five years as Technical Manager. His previous experience includes 12 years at sea, reaching the rank of Chief Engineer on a variety of tankers. Mr. Furnival is President of the Society of International Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators (SIGTTO), a Member of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), and a former Chairman of the Isle of Man Shipping Association.

Sebastian Graf von Hardenberg joined the Schulte Group in 2005. He served Bernhard Schulte as Head of Controlling from 2006 to 2009 before joining BSM Germany as Financial Director. Moving to Hong Kong in 2012 and Singapore in 2014, von Hardenberg served as Executive Assistant to the CEO of BSM and Corporate Director Risk Management before relocating to Cyprus for his appointment as Chief Financial Officer of BSM in 2015. Prior to this, von Hardenberg graduated as a lawyer in Germany and gained financial and risk management experience while working for an audit company.

With BSM since 2013, Angus Campbell currently holds the role of Corporate Director - Energy Projects at BSM, supporting the achievement of the Company's business growth objectives in the energy sector with the main focus on the development of commercially viable gas supply and energy infrastructure projects. Previously, Angus served as Managing Director of BSM United Kingdom and as Owner/Principal Consultant at CH4 Marine Advisory. Angus’ operational background is specialised on managing dry/wet and gas carriers. Trained as a ship manager, Angus has been in the shipping industry for over 40 years, starting his career with Denholm Ship Management, followed by Seatrain, before working for Overseas Ship Holding Group for 30 years in various senior positions including Head of OSG Gas. Angus is an active member of the Nautical Institute.

Elena Pantazidou joined BSM in 2010 as Corporate Director - HR Shore and is based in Cyprus. In the past, Elena has held positions at Epimorfosis Consulting and PeopleAchieve as a Human Capital Consultant, assisting clients with HR processes, including staff and leadership development, performance management systems, coaching, talent management, the creation and updating of HR systems as well as running a range of assessment tools. Elena holds a BSc in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Occupational Psychology. Elena is a certified Business Executive Coach, a Life Coach and a Chartered Occupational Psychologist at the British Psychological Society.

Capt. Frank Lasse currently holds the positon of Corporate Director - Loss Prevention, Safety and Quality (LPSQ) and is based in Germany. He has been with BSM since 2006, previously holding the roles of a Marine Superintendent, a Master with 11 years experience at sea and a Quality and Safety Manager. As Head of the LPSQ department, Frank is responsible for the safe operation of BSM's managed fleet and all compliances. Frank represents BSM at various industry related forums and committees, such as the Intertanko Vetting Committee, the Container Ship Safety Forum and the Informal Tanker Operators Safety Forum.

Giles Heimann joined BSM in 2015 as Corporate Director - Fleet Personnel, based in Limassol. Giles’ main responsibilities are the oversight of human resource needs of the seafarer population employed by BSM worldwide. With 30 years’ of experience in the maritime industry working both at sea and ashore, Giles has a strong track record in maritime HR management, with a specialisation in training and recruitment and marine, safety and technical operations, together with negotiation and establishment of seafarers’ terms and conditions of employment. Prior to his current appointment, Giles was the CEO of the International Maritime Employer’s Council and has previously held senior positions both in the regulatory and ship owning sectors within the maritime industry.

Robin Thuillier joined BSM in 2014 as Corporate Director, Marketing and Business Development, having gained extensive maritime industry marketing and business development experience with Vickers plc and Rolls-Royce plc over a 20 year period. With broad international exposure, Robin is based at BSM’s Ship Management Centre in Singapore where he has lived for the past 7 years.

Sandy Kumaran joined BSM in 2016 as Corporate Director - Fleet Management, based in Singapore. The objective of this position is to develop and implement corporate strategies, standards, policies and procedures for uniformity across all of BSM's Ship Management Centres. A professional Marine Engineer, Sandy has over 33 years of experience in shore based management positions and service at sea. Prior to joining BSM, he has worked with the Thome Group of Companies for 18 years as well as with Chevron Shipping Company for 12 years reaching the position of Chief Engineer. Sandy is a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineers (India), an Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers (India) and a Member of the Society of Marine Engineers and Naval Architects (Singapore).

Yiannis Sykas was appointed as Corporate Director - Product Development/Strategy in 2015 and is based in Cyprus. He joined BSM in 2008 and served as the Deputy CFO prior to his current role. Yiannis previously worked for KPMG, Moore Stephens and PwC in the field of assurance and business advisory with shipping as his industry focus. Yiannis holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and Electronics and an MBA. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Neil McNeil joined BSM in 2016 as Managing Director of BSM British Isles. Prior to this, Neil was the Managing Director for V Ships USA LLC based in Fort Lauderdale for eight years and Regional Fleet Manager (Americas) for BP Shipping, based in London for five years. Neil’s previous experience includes 13 years at sea with Denholm Ship Management and BP Shipping on a variety of vessels, reaching the rank of Chief Officer. Neil is a holder of a Class 1 Master Mariner Certificate of Competency and a Diploma in Nautical Science.

Mingfa Liu has been appointed Managing Director of BSM China in 2016. Mingfa has started his career at sea sailing on a mixture of cargo vessels up to Second Engineer before commencing a shore based career. He previously worked for V Ships in Glasgow, prior to being transferred internally to look after new building projects in Asia and being promoted to the post of Managing Director for the Region and part of the V Group Board. Later he was hired by Teekay and continued work on newbuild and conversion projects as well as on business development. Prior to joining BSM, Mingfa was the Managing Director of Wallem in China.

Arthur McWhinnie was appointed Managing Director of BSM Cyprus in 2010, after holding various marine and technical positions within the Organisation for ten years. Arthur commenced his sea-going career after obtaining his First Class Chief Engineers Certificate. Commencing his onboard career with Elders and Fyffe's, and thereon with P&O, Arthur moved ashore after 17 years of service at sea to further enhance his career with Lloyds Register of Shipping, responsible for the Marine Managements Systems requirements (ISM-ISO 9000 & ISO 14000) for the Middle East and Indian subcontinent region in Dubai. Arthur is a Member of the Board of Directors on the Cyprus Shipping Chamber (CSC) and the Cyprus Marine Environment Protection Association (CYMEPA).

Jan Warmke has been appointed as Managing Director of BSM Germany in 2013. Previously, he spent 12 years with three German ship owners, where he held various responsibilities in the field of finance and controlling, crewing and technical shipmanagement. Jan completed an apprenticeship as Qualified Shipping Merchant with a major German liner company as well as holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration.

Theophanis Theophanous, took office as the Managing Director of BSM Greece in 2008. Theophanis is vastly experienced in the management of oil and chemical tankers, gas, bulk, and container vessels. He has been in the shipping industry for over 30 years, starting his career as a seafarer and qualified Master class B. At sea for over seven years, his experience ranges across a variety of vessels including bulk carriers, oil tankers and VLCCs as well as a Loading Master in Cyprus tanker terminal for BP and Shell cargoes. After taking the decision to start his shore based career and prior to his current role, Theophanis joined the BSM Cyprus Fleet Personnel team where he stayed for 16 years, eight of which he fulfilled the role of Fleet Personnel Manager. Theophanis is a graduate of the Merchant Marine Academy of Hydra, Greece.

Capt. Firoze Mirza took charge as the Managing Director of BSM Hong Kong in 2010. Leading the BSM Hong Kong full managed fleet from ten vessels since early 2011 to 50 vessels in less than five years, Firoze is vastly experienced in the management of dry and wet vessels as well as has good knowledge of Maritime Law. Trained as a Master Mariner and with a postgraduate qualification in Maritime Law, Firoze has been associated with the shipping industry for over 30 years. Starting his career as a seafarer, he served at sea for 15 years, four of which were as Master. Subsequently, he took on various roles ashore, based in Hong Kong where he has been living since 15 years. Firoze is a member of the Shipping and Transport Committee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce.

Capt. Sanjeev Sharma joined BSM India in 2013, and took office of Managing Director in 2015. Sanjeev has more than 32 years’ experience in shipping, shipmanagement, business development, technical operations and human resources development. He started his career at sea in 1983 after completing a pre-sea training from India’s most prestigious nautical training ship ‘T.S. Rajendra’. He sailed on board various types of vessels, some of which were managed by BSM Hong Kong. After 1999, he moved to management roles ashore with Meiji Shipping in Tokyo and Neom Maritime in Singapore rising to the position of Chief Operating Officer, before returning back to India in 2013. Sanjeev is a Master Mariner and an active member of the Indian Council of Arbitration as a shipping expert.

Robert Maxwell, CEng, FIMarEST, FIES, took office as the Managing Director of BSM Singapore in 2014. Bob is vastly experienced in the management of oil and chemical tankers, gas, bulk, container vessels as well as the development and implementation of shipmanagement information technology systems. Trained as a Marine Engineer, he has been in the shipping industry for over 35 years. Starting his career as a seafarer, Robert served at sea for over 20 years, nine of which as Chief Engineer. Following his stint at sea, he took on roles at shore and was based in Cyprus where he lived for 11 years. Prior to his role at BSM, Robert was the Divisional Technical Director at V Ships.

Capt. Peter Jones took charge as the General Manager of BSM Venezuela in 2006. Peter is widely experienced in the management of crude oil and product tankers, bulk, container and heavy-lift vessels. Trained as a Deck Officer, he has been in the shipping industry for over 46 years. Starting his career as a seafarer, Peter served at sea for over 35 years, finishing as Master on VLCCs. Following his sea service, he took on the present role ashore and has been based in Punto Fijo, Venezuela for the last 11 years.
