SURECRUIT-WELAU  (SW) was one of the first manning agency in the region of North West Russia founded  originally as two independent recruiting  companies-Wema and Laudon in 1992. Through an amalgamation and to improve efficiency in 1998 both companies were united under the umbrella of WEMA-LAUDON and already  in 1999 Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement, previously known as Hanseatic Shipping Company Ltd of Cyprus, one of the leading ship management companies, became the main shareholder and  partner in Wema-Laudon.

Today SW is one of the four members of the SURECRUIT recruiting agencies covering the Baltic States, North-Western Russia and the Ukraine with own offices in St.Petersburg, Tallinn, Riga and Odessa.

All Surecruits are fully licensed and SW is also holding a quality certificate under ISO 9002 since 1994 covering all aspects of recruiting.  In 1999 when our leading new partner Hanseatic Shipping Company entrusted us with their additional manning requirements SW made a good leap ahead. An additional advantage was also that we became a member of the Schulte Group not only covering all states around the Baltic as well as the Black Sea and making sure that seafarers can call at any regional office operating and be employed under the same conditions of employment at sea. The Schulte Group orientation also gave a greater choice of employment as ship’s under the management of Navigo Management, Dorchester Maritime, VBSK of Hamburg or Reimarus Shipping.

The Company meets the requirements of all relevant international laws and regulations. Our criteria for selection of seagoing personnel for our clients are based on the IMO STCW78/95 International Convention on Standards of Training Certification and Watch-keeping for seafarers and the Amendments to it adopted in 1995. Presently we have approximately 350 seafarers at sea.

We have established good relationships between all relevant maritime authorities, embassies and consular sections to obtain travel visas, work permits. Our staff consists of experienced managers

- ex  senior officers and professional shore staff to meet the necessary business requirements.

Wema-Laudon Group has adequate space, facilities, equipment and manpower to meet the requirements of our clients. Crewing, communication and control are supported with powerful software including specially designed computer crewing application with which we keep constant track of and update the information on our candidates, crewmembers on-board and on-leave, their documents, health, and readiness status.
