CMA Shipping 2008 established yet another record, by attracting more than 1,700 delegates, confirming the event's status as the premier maritime event in North America. Our group has been a member of the Connecticut Maritime Association for 15 years, and we have had a booth at the annual show for the same period. Our excellent booth location in the show ensures that practically all visitors to the conference will pass by our stand. Many visitors come twice, and some even more often than that. There is a possibility that one of the contributing factors to this success may be the fact that we run a free bar serving "Dark 'n' Stormies." The Bermuda national drink is a mix of dark rum and ginger beer, a beverage that is both refreshing and enjoyable.
During the three day conference, Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement was represented in our very stylish exhibition space by Andreas Droussiotis (CEO), Rajaish Bajpaee (COO), Jens Alers and Ayub Quraishi (both of BSM Bermuda). The schedule was frantic; however, we were able to meet the greater majority of our North and South American clients. We held private meetings with many of our clients, leading to in depth discussions concerning new business, as well as management contracts and value added service sales. These are private and stock-listed companies trading in bulk, crude and chemical tankers, LNG/LPG, in addition to container vessels. The importance of the Americas as a market for Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement cannot be stressed enough, making the continents in the west a prime target area for our business expansion.
