NEWS / PRESS RELEASES
On the 4th of April 2009 BSM Crew Service Centre Philippines, Inc., a company of the Schulte Group, celebrated its 30th anniversary. 30 years ago, in 1979, the company started operations as Philippine Hanse Shipagency, Inc. Two years later its sister company Hammonia Marine Services, Inc. was established. Both very successful companies merged into one bigger and stronger company named Philippine Hammonia Shipagency, Inc. on the 1st of July 2003. At the beginning of the year 2008, the company was renamed BSM CREW SERVICE CENTRE PHILIPPINES, INC, following a major reorganisation of the Schulte Group of Companies, which led to the establishment of BERNHARD SCHULTE SHIPMANAGEMENT (BSM).
BSM has established a network of 11 Service Delivery Centres (SDCs) and 21 Crew Service Centres (CSCs) worldwide. CSC Philippines has two office buildings in Makati, the main office being located in Bangkal, the other in Palanan, and also operates a branch office in General Luna St., lloilo City. But the new home for BSM CSC Philippines is already under construction in Leon Guinto Street, Malate, where a time capsule will be lowered in the ground under the new 12-storey BSM office building by the chairman of the group Dr. Heinrich Schulte.
To celebrate the recent 30th anniversary of BSM Crew Service Centre Philippines, a dinner reception was held in
Makati City. Present at this occasion were Dr. Heinrich Schulte, Chairman of BS, Mr. Ian Beveridge, Chief Executive Officer of BS, and Mr. Andreas J. Droussiotis, Chief Executive Officer of BSM. The success of BSM CSC Philippines is chiefly due to the outstanding performance of its staff – ashore and on board. We are very lucky to count among our employees a large number of loyal office staff and seafarers who have served our company for 25 and even 30 years. This reflects the mutual commitment that exists between BSM and its employees. Therefore the management of BSM CSC Philippines, President Mr. Chito Duran, Operations Manager Capt. Brent Dayo, Employer’s Representative Capt. Igor Segeda, and Chairman Capt. Helmut Sallaba took the opportunity to thank their seafarers, their staff and the many guests invited to the dinner for their 30 years of loyalty and commitment to duty.
In the midst of the global economic crisis affecting many companies, BSM CSC PHILS remains strong due to its 30 years of experience and expertise. Currently the company has an active pool of about 7500 professional seafarers and an expanding fleet of 504 vessels including oil, gas and chemical tankers, FPSOs (Floating Production Storage Offloading), container ships, bulk carriers and specialised ships.
As a Crew Service Centre the company recruits competent, experienced and well-trained seafarers for Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement. Our seafarers undergo a meticulous recruitment and screening process. The masters, officers and crew are trained at the most reputable training centres here in the Philippines and overseas. BSM operates the BSM Marine Training Centre in Cyprus and BSM CSC Philippines operates an in-house training facility. The new building offers extended operation facilities, but most importantly provides facilities for fully fletched training centre with Deck / Engine simulators with all modern training equipment as well as dormitories.
The company has repeatedly received various POEA (Philippines Overseas Employment Administration), DOLE (Department of Labor and Employment) and Presidential awards and has been elevated to the POEA Hall of Fame. BSM CSC Philippines obtained ISO 9002 Quality Assurance Certification from Lloyd’s Register in 1996 and continues to conduct all business activities in accordance with international quality standards. The company's goal for the future is the same as in the past: to be instrumental in providing job security for Philippine seafarers and staff by continuously meeting and exceeding the expectations of our clients.
