| |  Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (UK) Ltd., formerly Hanseatic Shipping Co. (UK) Ltd., opened its newly built office in Newcastle in January 2007. Our Newcastle Service Delivery Centre was established in order to improve access to vessels trading for established clients in the North Sea area and to attract new business, particularly from UK flag operators and for those needing to comply with UK tonnage tax requirements.
Newcastle has a very strong seafaring tradition. Its internationally renowned university and nautical school ensured right from the outset that there was an extensive pool of well-qualified staff available to join us in our new venture.
The city is well positioned for easy access to the East Coast ports and also to main-line rail services. Newcastle has excellent international air and ferry links, which means that our vessels can be visited more frequently, more economically and if necessary, at very short notice.
More regular ship visits by our staff and by ships’ Senior Officers to Newcastle help to establish strong ties with our crews, thus leading to greater productivity and operating efficiencies.
2007 has been an exciting year for our new venture. Our employees have become a closely knit team and we are confident that with the continued support of our colleagues within the Group, we will see the Newcastle office of Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement continue to thrive in the years to come.
