Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) celebrated the 40th anniversary of its Crew Service Centre in the Philippines (BSM CSC PH) last week at an appreciation dinner event held at Sofitel Plaza Manila, to thank its seafarers and shore staff for their contributions over the past 40 years.

Incorporated in 1979, BSM CSC PH is the oldest and largest of BSM’s 24 Crew Service Centres and is led by Mr. Narcissus Duran (President), Capt. Helmut Sallaba (Chairman), Capt. Armando Santosidad (Director) and John Pritchett (Director). BSM CSC PH is strategically located at Leon Guinto Street in Malate, Manila, in the 12-storey BSM House and operates branch offices in Cebu City and Iloilo City.

Among over 500 sea and shore staff, customers and representatives from local authorities, embassies, P&I clubs and seamen’s unions, the distinguished guests at the event included Dr. Heinrich Schulte (Chairman of the Schulte Group), Johann Schulte (Managing Director and Chief Commercial Officer of Bernhard Schulte), Christoph Schulte (Schulte Group shareholder representative), Ian Beveridge (Chief Executive Officer of the Schulte Group), Felix Leggewie (Chief Operating Officer of Bernhard Schulte) and Sebastian von Hardenberg (Chief Financial Officer of BSM).

Followed by a welcome speech to all guests by Capt. Sallaba, Dr. Schulte paid tribute to the BSM CSC PH sea and shore personnel in his speech.

The highlights of the event included an entertaining cultural dance performed by the Seafarers’ Wives Club, followed by an awards ceremony, where the longest-serving sea and shore staff of even up to 40 years with the company were awarded for their loyalty and excellent work to BSM.

Ian Beveridge said, “We are very proud of our long and successful association with Filipino seafarers, and our major presence in the Philippines, the number one seafaring nation. We are determined to provide safe and satisfying jobs for Filipino seafarers for many decades to come, in order to serve our customers and our industry.”
